Over the Christmas holiday C. and I spent time in Singapore with his family. It was my first Christmas in Asia, and my first Christmas without my family, which was tough, but it was made slightly easier by staying at the Fullerton Hotel.
The Fullerton is a five-star hotel located in the central business district of Singapore. Its an old post office, so a very historical building, that has been converted into a hotel. Its huge, with eight floors and many, many rooms. There are several restaurants and bars on the premises, as well as a really nice pool area.
The view from the rooftop bar at night is pretty special, too.
Our room was huge, with a nice view of the river and the central business district from the balcony.
The bed was big and comfy, and the linens were definitely nicer than most hotels I’ve stayed in- soft and smooth, super comfy for my poor jet lagged self!
The Fullerton is clearly popular with business travelers, as the desk (and business services) were fairly built out. Being on holiday, I did nothing to investigate except take a few snaps for my readers.
The cool thing is that you can order room service and even spa treatments on the tablet on the desk, rather than calling down to the front desk, which is ideal if you dislike the telephone like I do. I will say, the concierge was super helpful anyway- he helped us find a laundry service to do a large amount of laundry (necessary if you’re in town for a long time like we were!) and helped us find massage services and make a hair appointment elsewhere in the city.
The mini bar was pretty standard, nothing too exciting.
The bathroom was pretty spectacular, with a separate shower and bath, which we took advantage of every evening.
Where this hotel shone was the food. We had some additions available to us as Straits Club members, including a daily champagne breakfast, afternoon tea and an evening cocktail hour.
You could easily have breakfast at the hotel each day, go out all afternoon and come back for a heavy dose of canapes and cocktails, and be sorted for the day.
Breakfast was also fabulous, with a huge amount of options- Continental, Asian, Indian, Japanese, British and an egg bar. I’d go here for brunch any day. I was able to have dim sum every day. Rock ON.
The Christmas celebrations at the Fullerton were really lovely. Not only was the place decked out to the nines, there was live entertainment such as Santa and a live choir. It made it feel really Christmassy even for this American who is used to the cold at Christmas!
Even the turn down service on Christmas was Christmas themed, which was a really nice touch.
Overall the Fullerton was a good place to stay location-wise, and very Christmas-y. There are other hotels I’d stay in in Singapore generally, but it was very comfy, had amazing food options and was super lush and comfy. If you want a nice hotel and aren’t interested in a skyscraper or something super designy, or you just like old fashioned hotels, this is the place for you.
