Birthday Film on the Rocks, Morrison

Red Rocks is the most beautiful concert venue in the world. Not that I’ve been to every concert venue, but I think I can say this, anyway. What other venues sit on a mountain and overlook the entire front range of Colorado, after all?

Sometimes I think Red Rocks looks pretty much unreal- a figment of my imagination. But it really looks like this, I promise I didn’t just paint this or Photoshop something together!
If you look REALLY closely right next to this turret, you can see the Denver skyline!
To celebrate E’s birthday, we went to Film on the Rocks, a Colorado
summer tradition that I hadn’t been to before. Instead of featuring a
musical artist, Red Rocks opens up to the community and shows a film!
This week, it was Hunger Games, which meant long lines of teenagers…and us.

Before the film, there’s a short concert and a cartoon, so
there’s plenty of time to bring in a picnic and people watch/listen to
music. We had lots o’ fruit, grilled veggies, tomato jam and, of course, birthday cupcakes!

E and I packed our plates full as we are wont to do in picnic situations.

But of course, there is always room for dessert, even if it was smashed in our mad dash to get a good seat!

After dinner it was time for a little music from Vicci Martinez and some photos.

…then it was time for the show!
