Oskar Blues Brewery, Colorado

Today I BEGGED HBL to take me to Cheyenne, Wyoming. Strangely, this is a place I’ve always wanted to go and it isn’t too far of a drive from Denver, so I thought, today is as good a day as any! Sadly, it wasn’t very blog-worthy. The most noteworthy events included cool rock formations driving on the way up and a toy train convention at what appeared to be the town hall.

On the way home, I felt like I had a very good case and point as to why I feel isolated in Denver most of the time. Then, we decided to stop at Oskar Blues Brewery’s Tasty Weasel Tap Room and I was quickly reminded why Colorado is so great, even if there’s no other big city within a day’s driving distance of Denver. (This is not necessarily a problem but definitely is if you’re a confirmed city dweller like myself!)

If you need reminding, I am on a crusade to showcase great American craft beer. We went on a tour of the brewery, which was really interesting, and tried a flight of all Oskar Blues beers, including the famous Dales Pale Ale and Old Chubb.

The tour made Cheyenne seem like a detour!

Cheers to (and thank goodness for) Colorado craft beer!

I have never been to Wyoming before, I would love to go there.

It was a really, really pretty drive through Wyoming, just not much to do in Cheyenne itself. I hope you get there some day, would you want to go to the cities or the mountains (I hear the Tetons are beautiful)?
